Our pick from December 2017 for the #SongoftheWeek is the dark but hauntingly beautiful “Scary People”  by Georgina “Georgi” Kingsley, more popularly known as Georgi Kay, the Los Angeles based British-Australian indie popstress.

It’s our favorite track from her debut full length 2018 album “Where I Go to Disappear / WIGTD” (Monoki Records) even though we love all the other songs too especially “Toxins”, “Guilty Pleasures”, “Heavenly Gates”, “American Psycho” and “Lone Wolf” and but track no 10 – “Scary People” has remained a rock-solid favorite and still finds a place in many of our Youtube and Spotify playlists.

We were first introduced to Georgi Kay in 2013, thanks to “In My Mind” with Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell, a phenomenal chartbuster that not only fetched her a Grammy nomination but also an Aria and Apra award. She’s been on our radar since then and needless to say, she has continued to impress.

“Scary People” is not only a gritty, intoxicating dark pop track that calls for repeat listening but its also a stark commentary of our current hostile political climate. Add to this an equally impressive “scary” music video and you have the perfect antidote for your eyes and ears.
