Michigander – Stolen (Lyric Video)
A new lyric video initiative of the Music Bloggers Network
Michigander (aka Jason Singer’s) “Stolen“ is a beautifully crafted, intense indie track about love and heartbreak that’s still so off the radar. We like it very much and been listening to it regularly since we discovered it. So, it was but natural that it became our first choice for our first official Music Bloggers Network […]
Strangers on a Plane – All My Life (Official Video)
Plastic is bad but it never sounded so good!
We depend on plastic but now we are drowning in it. This is the stark reality in our #SongoftheDay music video “All My Life” by Strangers on a Plane. The Toronto based pop couple Evren Oz & Courteney Brookes who incidentally met on a plane (KLM 691 to be precise), make effusive chilled pop with […]
Melis – Holding Hands
A beautiful track, a beautiful video, give Melis some love
Our #SongoftheDay from 11 January 2018 – The heartfelt and enigmatically beautiful “Holding Hands” by Berlin-based, half Czech, half Turkish singer/songwriter MELIS (Melis Soyaslanova) from her debut EP, ‘Parallels‘. “Holding Hands” is still present in many of our playlists because we honestly believe, this enchanting song deserves more recognition and more airplay. After all, this […]
Elastica – The Menace (2000)
Girl powered modern rock nostalgia
The second album from the abrasive brit alt punk rockers! In 1995, the female fronted Britpop Alternative Rock Band Elastica headed by ex-Suede members Justine Frischmann and Justin Welch appeared out of nowhere to score a massive hit with the hugely irresistible “Connection.” That song, which borrowed heavily from an older track by Wire, propelled Elastica’s self-titled debut album to the top of the British charts and earned the band a spot on that year’s Lollapalooza tour.
Radiohead – Kid A (2000)
The weirdest Alt rock album to ever sell a million copies
The English rock band Radiohead’s fourth studio album, the radically different Kid A (2000) severely divided critics when it was released, some ruing that it probably would not sell many copies. Can’t blame them too much because this is indeed a challenging, often downright confusing piece of alternative rock music that will leave even ardent Radiohead fans scratching […]
filous – All My Friends Are Rich ft. Louis III (Official Music Video)
Summery ear candy for the masses
“All My Friends Are Rich” by Austrian “house” producer and remixer filous (Matthias Oldofredi) in collaboration with English singer-songwriter Louis III is the kind of sly humourous track that you’ll either fall in love with or hate for its ironic lyrics and sugary pop sweetness. Nonetheless, the summery indie feel-goodness by this duo is so […]
The Devlins Greatest Hits – An Exclusive Compilation
Melodic Alternative - Indie Rock Selection from the Splendid Dublin Fourpiece
While The Devlins burst into the alt rock scene in 1994 with their spectacular debut album ‘Drift’ (produced by the award-winning Malcolm Burn, a protégé of Daniel Lanois); I heard them first only in 1996 on the soundtrack of the Winona Ryder – Lukas Haas coming of age teen flick ‘Boys’. Like Ian Brown, another […]
Totemo – Hits
Melancholic Dream Pop with an inventive oriental touch!
Our #throwbackthursday track of the week is the mesmerizing “Hits” by the Tel Aviv based Israeli artist Rotem Or aka Totemo from her 2016 album “Desire Path“ An inventive electronic dream pop of the highest order, the hook is no doubt the oriental Asian instrument touch that immediately elevates it to ‘repeat play’ status. It’s […]
Junksista – Life Is Unfair (And Love Is A Bitch)
Addictive ElectroPop from the Enticing German Duo
Junksista’s groovy music video is dark, bloody and deliciously good! The Electro Rock German Duo Junksista are truly hard to classify but I’ll try. Imagine the groovy freshness of Cardigans with the industrial rock appeal of Garbage, the undeniable danceability of Royksopp and the musical allure of Bjork all rolled into a pleasant, synthetic rock […]
HVOB + Winston Marshall – Blame Game (Lyric Video Premiere)
Our second lyric video premiere is a mesmerizing electronic eargasm that’s hard to switch off
What aural concoction do you get when you combine trippy, downtempish electronica of the Austrian electronic-duo Paul Wallner and Anna Müller – HVOB (Her Voice Over Boys) with the indie rock goodness, courtesy of British musician Winston Marshall, banjoist and the lead guitarist of the Grammy Award-winning British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons? Blame Game […]
